I’ve decided to have a go at making leather shoes and bags for my dolls. I got a 1kg bag of leather scraps off eBay from a company that makes leather sofas and are selling their off cuts. The pieces are large and I got three colours -white, bottle green and burgundy. I’ve had a good look at YouTube videos and found this one that shows you how to shape the leather using a last, as I’m at my parents at the moment I’ve been in the shed doing woodwork! I’m using a pattern by Handmade Paradise so far I’ve made up a calico shoe and now I’m starting on the leather.
So I’ve made Constance a little cashmere hat in a soft oatmeal colour. It’s upcycled from a jumper using one of the sleeves. I got the idea from Corina Neilson’s blog. I made my own doll sized template and overlocked the edges – it’s come out quite cute.
Here is a photo of Aurelia in her new home in the Netherlands and she is now called Assiya. It was a long journey but she arrived safely but tired…..so a quick change into her pajamas and off to bed. She looks like she’s already got some friends too.
So here are Constance’s crocheted boots and details of the embroidery along the hem of her dress. The boot pattern is the same one I’ve used before by Wooly Wonders this time exactly as she shows you. I really enjoy adding those little details.
